Instructor, dance-band & registration

18. January 2013 by Kamil Dzielinski

The working group is slowly beginning to recover from the huge success that FOLKAMOK has been. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came to the event, the Student House in Copenhagen, as well as all the amazing and wonderful bands that performed for all of us!

But we’re not stopping here – we’re very pleased to present the last instructor:

John Bæk (Guitar, vocals)A picture of John Bæk

John has traveled far and wide in the Danish music scene – he has composed and written songs in rock, reggae, ballads as well as Danish and Irish folk music. In the Danish folk music circles, he is known from his work in the folk bands Kætter Kvartet and more recently Impuls Trio. John’s site.

One of the evenings at ROD2013, there’ll be a traditional dance, and for this occasion we’ve got FUG (Folkemusik Uden Grænser) to come by.

FUG is a young up-and-coming folk band, which was founded in April 2011. Since then FUG has gained a good reputation for various events around the country. FUG are known for their healthy pace and energetic groove, and with a good mix of violin, clarinet, bass, guitar and accordion FUG has a great sound. It is guaranteed that you can not sit still, once FUG play up to a dance.

FUG is: Nanna Søndergaard Smidt (fiddle), Nathasja Hansen (fiddle), Martin Strange Lorenzen (clarinet), Frederik Søndergaard Smidt (guitar), Simon Busk Andersen (base/fiddle) og Christian Albertsen (accordion).

We’d like to remind everyone who signed up in the second registration round, that the deadline for payment and submission of details is next Wednesday, the 23rd of January.

On the same date, the 23rd of January at 20:01, is the third and last registration round – good luck!

Registration of details

6. January 2013 by Kamil Dzielinski

We would like to remind all of you who got a spot on ROD that you have until Tuesday the 8th of January to register your details and transfer the registration fee to us.

If any of you have not received the second email with a link to the registration form, contact us directly.

For those of you who did not make it, the second registration will commence on Sunday the 13th of January at 12:01.

30. December 2012 by Kamil Dzielinski

There has been a bit of confusion about the registration, therefore, we present here a step-by-step explanation.

The first round will open on Monday night, one minute past midnight (ie at 00:01 on the 1st of January 2013.) At the top of the registration page you will find a link to the registration form.

In contrast to last year’s first two rounds, you will register with your name and email address only. Once we get 40 entries, the list will close automatically.

During the next day (the 1st of January 2013) you will receive an email with a link to a more detailed form where you will fill out the rest of your personal information, such as your address, phone number and so on.

Your registration is valid only when you have filled out the second form, and paid the fee. You need to do these two things before the payment deadline (the 8th of January for the first round.)

If you do not manage to register at Monday night, fear not — you can still do it on the second or third round (respectively on the 13th and 23rd January.)

Contact us if you have any questions!

We look forward to seeing your registrations!

Instructors, price, registration & party!

2. December 2012 by Kamil Dzielinski

We’ve got some good news! We have found the first two instructors for ROD2013. We are extremely pleased to announce that first two faces of the instructor-team will consist of:

Tove de Fries (Fiddle)Et billede af Tove de Fries

Tove is this year’s Danish factor. She grew up with the Danish folk tradition and lives on Fanø where she helps to put an energetic touch to the island’s musical life. With Tove’s enthusiasm, we’re secured a good mood and lots of dynamics! Tove’s site.

Bilal Irshed (Oud)Et billede af Bilal Irshed

Bilal is going to add a Middle Eastern stroke to ROD2013. He was born and raised in Palestine, but has lived in Denmark for several years. He is used to experiment with arrangements in the Middle Eastern tradition and combine them with elements of other world music. Bilal’s site.

We look forward to experience the two musical traditions merge in next year’s big-band!

The registration fee for ROD2013 is going to be 1,150.00 DKK. The price reflects, as always, the costs associated with the event. This is a price increase compared to the previous years, but we promise you that the money will be well spent. ROD2013 will undoubtedly be a great party!

As mentioned earlier, the registration for the first 40 places will open at the New Year’s Eve – the 1st of January 2013 at 00:01. We expect that there will be high demand for the slots – last year the first round sold out in 4 hours. The registration will take place here.

For those of you who cannot quite wait until March, we invite you all to FOLKAMOK! on the 12th of January, at the Studenterhuset in Copenhagen.

With polka-greetings,
- Working Group 2013!

Welcome to the site

31. October 2012 by Kamil Dzielinski

Welcome to ROD2013s new page! First and foremost, the most important thing: the next ROD will take place from 22nd to 28th March 2013 on in Vester Skærninge on Fyn — see more on the practical info page.

The Working Group is working very hard to create the best possible ROD, and many things are not in place yet, but we can already reveal some details.

Registration procedure is already in place. We offer 125 seats in ROD2013, and they are divided into 3 registration rounds. The first round begins, as last year, at the New Year’s. Read more at the registration page.
It’s important to point out that there will be a 7-day payment deadline this year.

ROD will be one day shorter than last year, 6 days in total, since we believe that 7 days in 2012 was too long.

The school we found feels as a perfect setting for ROD, and we’re looking forward to using it. You can read more on our transport page.

We have reintroduced Jam Tunes, a collection of tunes for you to practice before ROD, so you can become a part of one of the many jams.

The rules for visitors have changed this year. Everybody is of course still welcome, but we will decline guests before Sunday. Read more at our guest page.

We’re working hard to get it in place, but we have not yet set the price for ROD2013. In 2012, the event cost 950 DKK, and it is likely that it will be more expensive next year.

Finally, on the 12th of January 2013 in Studenterhuset in Copenhagen, we’ll be arranging ROD Fest-i-hval — a day of bands, jam and genuine ROD-fun. We hope that you will be with us there!

We’re looking forward to seeing you at ROD2013!
